Maybe there is one out there in the archives we have never seen but We Are The NowTones would no doubt be a favorite!

"I Wanna Be A Lifeguard". A couple of years ago we (our family) flew up to Schenectady for my sisters wedding. We came up early to spend some time. Anyway, my kids (12,12 and 8 at the time) had never seen snow. One day we took a trip up to Lake George in the hopes of finding some snow for them to throw around. Lake George in early April is deserted! We had a SIRIUS radio in the rental car and were running through the stations. I found a 1980's station and left it on. Heard some great music. We were going past Million Dollar Beach and we stopped. I told my wife and kids about Blotto and how they were a great local band trying to make it big and how they filmed a video at Million Dollar Beach and how it got a lot of MTV airtime. We got back in the car and strted driving around the east side of Lake George trying to see what we could find. I had never been there before. Well, we saw a sign for "Top Of The Mountain" golf course and started to drive up. As we were driving up, "Lifeguard" came on the radio, I pulled over and cranked it up! I started to sing (like I did with almost every other song they played!) and my wife and kids realized I was certifiably nuts!

It was cool to hear the song so soon after telling them about the video and BEING where part of it was filmed!

My goal is to be back in upstate NY when they will be playing and to get my wife and kids to see a concert. Unless of course they come down to the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area!

My favorite always was their version of "The Munsters" theme song. I asked Broadway once if they would record and release it and he said regretably, no. That ROCKED!

Two of my least favorite songs were "Metalhead" and "Goodbye, Mr. Bond". To me they were too long and drawn out. I would actually start yawning during the middle and couldn't wait for them to finish!

sheetmusic for any of these available?
« Result #6 on Apr 24, 2009, 2:26pm »

I was introduced to Blotto by my husband who was fortunate enough to grow up in the Albany area. Now our kids run around singing "Lifeguard" everytime we get a warm day here in Seattle. Blotto's music is fabulous and I'm glad it's going to another generation. I just ordered the DVD to give to my husband for father's day but I know I'll have to hide it from the kids so they don't open it first.

Our son's part of an acappella group and really wants to have the group do "Lifeguard" but I can't find sheetmusic for it anywhere. Did anyone ever publish Blotto sheetmusic? I know for my acappella group I need to pay arranger fees and whatnot but I can't find any of Blotto's music anywhere.

Any ideas?

Howdy!

My favorite live Blotto is an obscure one that I THINK is called "I Love You Calvin Klein".

During the riffing that goes on in the middle of the song Bowtie, Bway and Sarge strike a series of masculine runway model poses (looking at a watch, waving at a friend, reaching into a pocket, etc.) that were hilarious. During a couple of 1981 gigs at Queens College and The Bottom Line in NYC, I shot flash pictures during that part which kind of added a funny sense of reality as they would pose... (flash!), change pose... (flash!), change pose... (flash!)

Great shots! I'll post them to Bert Blotto for the Gallery section of the site. BUT WHAT WAS THE NAME OF THE SONG???? It was never on any original album or compilation.

Also, are there any live concert tapes available?

Dennis

Actually, It was Bowtie's wedding, not Cheese. Sorry, it's been a long time.

I was their record guy in Canada. Went to two weddings in Albany (Saratoga): Cheese and Lee Harvey. Not sure I knew their real names until I received the wedding invitations. Who?

I mean the Blotto guys...(or anyone, for that matter!). If so, contact me. Remember 'raglafart', Broadway? Fishing on the captain's boay? We had some fun, trying to sell your records up here in Canada!
